Benoit, Pittsfield Baseball Edge Lenox

LENOX, Mass. -- Carter Matthews hit a two-run single in the top of the fourth to give the Pittsfield baseball team the lead, and the Generals went on to a 4-2 win over Lenox on Wednesday.
 
The victory, Pittsfield's 10th, wrapped up a berth in the Western Massachusetts tournament for the Generals.
 
Hunter Potash went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and and Jon Halse was 2-for-4 with a double in a nine-hit Pittsfield attack.
 
Ian Benoit earned the win on the mound, striking out five and walking three in six innings of work. Danny DiMassimo and Potash combined to finish the seventh.
 
Jett Steinman went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double for Lenox. John Fielding went 4-1/3 innings on the hill for the Millionaires, allowing just three earned runs before turning it over to Trevor Sweeney, who did not allow a run in 2-2/3 innings of work.
 
Lenox (4-5) hosts Mount Greylock on Thursday.
 
Pittsfield (10-2) hosts Monument Mountain on Thursday.
