Pittsfield residents Auric and A.J. Enchill helped the Tufts University men’s lacrosse team come within a goal of forcing overtime in last week’s NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse championship.

The Jumbos (20-3) lost to Salisbury, 14-13, in Philadelphia in the national title game.

Senior A.J. Enchill, a graduate of Governors Academy, scored two goals with three assists and 27 ground balls this spring. Auric, a sophomore who went to the Trinity-Pawling School, appeared in seven games, accounting for one shot on goal for the Jumbos.

On day two of last weekend’s NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship UMass-Boston sophomore and Taconic High graduate Dom Nda made his national championship debut in the 100-meter dash.

Nda finished tied for 15th in the prelims of the 100. The Pittsfield native posted a time of 10.85 seconds as he competed against the top sprinters in all of Division III. Nda, who holds his school’s record in the 100, and who was recently named a USTFCCCA All-Region honoree for the first time in his career, was one of just three sprinters to represent New England, and the only one to represent the Little East Conference at this year's NCAAs.

Hoosac Valley graduate Tanner Bird represented Berkshire County in the NCAA Division II National Championship Finals. The Ravens dropped their first two games at the nationals after advancing out of the East Regional.

Bird finished his senior season with a 1.55 earned run average in 64 innings. He posted an 8-1 record in 23 appearances -- all but one out of the bullpen.

His next action could come as soon as Thursday when the North Adams SteepleCats open their 2016 season at Joe Wolfe Field. Bird returns to the ‘Cats along with Mount Greylock alumnus Robby Buffis.
