NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Justin Meczywor scored seven goals, and Taeden Bolte made 13 saves Monday to lead the McCann Tech boys lacrosse team to a 16-15 victory over Taconic.

“This was our second win of the year, and that’s more wins this year than last year,” McCann Tech coach Paul Lange said. “The team is excited and pumped up. It was a huge win. It was a bit of a barn-burner, an exciting game.”

Bolte’s return in net was a big factor, Lange said. It allowed the team to move Dakota Bolte back to his natural position and bolster the defense, and Taeden made seven saves in the fourth quarter of a back-and-forth game.

“He came up huge for us in the fourth quarter to preserve the win,” Lange said.

“We were short some guys today. We only had two guys on the bench. That made it difficult for our guys, but they stepped up, obviously.”

Jason Delisle scored four goals and added two assists, and Evan Knapp scored four goals for the Hornets (2-2).

Taconic got nine goals and an assist from Sal Amaral.

Taconic hosts Pittsfield on Wednesday.

McCann Tech is right back at it on Tuesday, hosting Granby.

“Today was a great win,” Lange said. :I'm really excited. The boys are excited. I don't know what else to say.

“It was big for us for Taeden to make those saves and for the offense to step up and score a lot of goals. It was a grinding game. My guys had to tough it out.”
