CHESHIRE, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley boys lacrosse team defeated Taconic Thursday afternoon, 13-2, at Hoosac Valley High School.

Chaise Labrie led the Hurricanes, putting in four goals.

Hoosac got off to a quick start offensively, going ahead 5-0 at half-time and adding three more in the third before Taconic got on board late in the quarter.

Defensively, the Hurricanes didn't allow Taconic many opportunities to get a look at the net, and when they did come Hoosac goalie Cam Alibozek wasn't allowing them through. Taconic picked up its second goal late in the fourth quarter.

"Defensively, we were a lot more focused today, we kept the intensity up," Hoosac coach John Alibozek said. "They played an all around good game from the goalie to the long poles, no faults with them at all."

After taking an 8-1 lead after the third quarter, the Hurricanes came back out and kept firing them at the net. Their first goal of the fourth came from Nick Waterman, who minutes had a goal called back by a whilstle. Waterman came from behind the net on the goalies left side placing it low to go ahead 9-1.

They scored four more times, each coming from different players; Labrie, Nate Lapine, Bailey Trumble, and Austin Mendal.

"We have to keep the offense on the move," Alibozek said. "But we need to keep them moving up in the offensive zone to keep the defensive long poles off balance."

Waterman had a total of three goals for the afternoon, Brendan Elsworth had two, and Mendal had two for the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes, now 4-5, play Wahconah away Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Taconic hosts Pittsfield Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
