Chenail Gets 100th Point of Year, Mounties Cruise to Final

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The No. 1-seeded Mount Greylock boys lacrosse team defeated No. 4 Cathedral Wednesday afternoon, 20-7, in the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 3 semi-finals.
 
The Mounties were lead by senior Liam Chenail with six goals; Chenail also tallied his 100th point of the season with his team's final goal of the game.
 
Michael McCormack and Cole Hughes each put in four goals for Greylock; Reiley Parker had three, Kevin Aliberti had two and Sean McCormack had one. Hughes also totaled a team-high of six assists, Michael McCormack followed with five.
 
The Mounties took a 9-4 lead at halftime; they outscored Cathedral in the third quarter, 6-3 taking a 15-7 lead. They added five more in the final 12 minutes and didn't allow Cathedral any.
 
Cal Filson totaled 15 saves for Greylock; Cathedral goalie Matt Deloria had 14 saves on 34 Mount Greylock shots.
 
Last year, Mount Greylock defeated Cathedral in overtime in the semis on the way to a Central/Western Mass title.
 
The Mounties will face third seeded Grafton Saturday afternoon in the sectional finals at West Springfield at 4 p.m.
