UPTON, Mass. -- Alie Mendel scored five goals, and Abi Disbrow made 12 saves as the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team earned a 12-9, come-from-behind victory over Nipmuc on Friday in the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 2 quarter-finals.
Third-seeded Nipmuc (14-6) led, 6-3, at half-time before the No. 6 Hurricanes (15-3) roared back.
"Our second half was the best half of the season," Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. "We came back with purpose. Skylar Case won almost every draw in the second half. And We possessed with composure and played motivated, inspirational lacrosse to hold the lead.
"Beyond excited for this team. They’ve worked so hard this season. They deserve this win."
Brooke DiGennaro and Claudia Bresett each scored a pair of goals, and Faith Hall, Bri Lancia and Kelsey Bulson each scored once.
Hoosac Valley moves on to Tuesday's sectional semi-final at No. 2 Mount Greylock (16-4).
