CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Emma Meczywor and Karyssa Charon each scored five goals Tuesday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 16-9 win over PIttsfield.

Lauren Davis scored twice and set up four goals, and Ashlyn Lesure had a hat trick for the Hurricanes.

“Emma Meczywor, an eighth-grader, got things going for us offensively with great cuts and finishes,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “She continues to find open lanes. Karyssa Charon and Lauren Davis do a nice job of moving the ball - in transition as well as within the offensive third. Maryn Cappiello played well defensively and Ashlyn Lesure continues to become an offensive presence as well.”

Leighanna Williamson scored five goals, and Julian Kastranakis had two goals and an assist for the Generals.

Danielle Plankey stopped 11 shots in Pittsfield’s goal.

Emily Godfrey stopped 12 shots to earn the win for Hoosac Valley, which avenged a 9-4 loss at Pittsfield in the season opener.

The Hurricanes (3-3) go to Wahconah on Wednesday.

Pittsfield goes to Mount Greylock on Thursday.
