NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Jacinta Felix scored four goals, and the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team exploded for 11 second-half goals to earn a 15-4 win over Monson on Tuesday.

“Our cuts weren't effective and our shots weren't placed very well in the first half,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “But our cuts, runs and placement of shots in the second half were outstanding. We had great looks to Jacinta Felix, who is coming along nicely as a first-year player. Returnees Alena Rehill, Sam Loholdt and Maryn Cappiello had a great ground game and created a great deal of offense for us.”

Emma Meczywor had a hat trick and set up five goals. Ashlyn Lesure and Lauren Davis each scored twice.

Kennedy Whitely earned the win in Hoosac Valley’s goal with five saves. Julia Royce stopped 20 shots for the Mustangs.

“The Monson goalie is a tremendous player and made fantastic saves all game,” Molly Meczywor said.

Hoosac Valley (2-0) hosts Pittsfield on Thursday.
