Hoosac Valley Tops Pope Francis
CHESHIRE, Mass. – Jacinta Felix scored six goals Thursday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 13-3 win over Pope Francis.
Emma Meczywor had a hat trick, and Ashlyn Lesure finished with two goals and five assists.
With one game left in the regular season, Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said her team, which has won four straight games, is “peaking at the right time.”
“Watching our team today was pure joy,” West said. “Everything that we have been working on and towards was executed perfectly today. Emma was dominant on draws. Ashlyn was key on the ground and finding open offensive players. And Jacinta saw every corner of the goal. They set the tone for the game.
“Our defense has stepped up and played tough in the defensive third, but created so much offense for us as well. It just was so great to see us put two months together and come in sync.’
Cameron Lovato and Kennedy Whitley combined to make eight saves in the win, which was ended in the third quarter due to rain.
Hoosac Valley (12-2) hosts Granby on Friday evening.
