Mount Greylock Comes Back to Edge Wahconah

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team defeated Wahconah Friday evening, 9-8, under the lights on John T. Allen Field.
 
Wahconah took an early lead at half-time 6-3, but the Mounties did not back down; scoring six in the second half to steal the lead and take the victory.
 
"Both teams played so well," Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. "But if I can say there was a good loss, this was it."
 
Mount Greylock freshman Caroline Flynn led her team with three goals. Senior Sarah Stripp followed behind her scoring two.
 
Flynn scored the Mounties final goal with 5:48 remaining in the game to break the 8-8 tie after Greylock took their first lead of the game at 8-7 over the Warriors.
 
Emmy Cote led Wahconah with four of their eight goals.
 
Sam MacWhinnie had three saves for Mount Greylock and Katie Bachli had 13 saves for Wahconah.
 
Wahconah (5-3) travels to Pittsfield on Wednesday.
 
Mount Greylock (9-1) hosts Hoosac Valley on Saturday.
 
Wahconah and Mount Greylock meet again on May 15.
