Mount Greylock Girls Win Big in Tourney Debut

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Carolyn Jones scored seven goals Friday to lead the Mount Greylock girls lacrosse team to a 16-2 win over St. Bernard’s in the opening round of the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 2 tournament.
 
Sarah Polumbo scored four times and set up two more goals, and Emma Stevens had a hat trick for the sixth-seeded Mounties.
 
Christy Rech earned the win in goal with six saves.
 
St. Bernard’s Hannah Bergeron stopped 13 shots, including eight in a second half that was played mostly under running time.
 
Mount Greylock (7-2) travels next week to face No. 3 Tahonto Regional (10-1) of Boylston, which received a bye into the quarter-final round.
