NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Miranda Ranzoni went 3-for-3 with a double and drove in a pair of runs before being lifted for a pinch-hitter, and the McCann Tech softball team stormed out to an 11-0 lead en route to a 13-3 win over Boston Collegiate on Sunday.

The victory sends the 20th-seeded Hornets (11-8) into the Round of 32 in the Division 5 State Tournament.

Ranzoni bunted her way aboard to lead off the bottom of the first, igniting a six-run rally.

Svea Lawson singled to drive in a run, and Hannah Tatro hit a three-run double in the rally, which ended with Ranzoni standing on second base after doubling for her second hit of the inning.

She then singled and drove in a run in the bottom of the second, when McCann Tech again batted around, this time scoring four runs to effectively put the game out of reach.

The Hornets scored four in the second with just two hits, taking advantage of an error and four free passes.

Tatro, meanwhile, overcame some first-inning jitters when she loaded the bases with one out to retire eight straight – sitting down the side in order in the second and third innings.

She finished her day striking out five with two walks and one hit before leaving the circle after the third inning.

Emily Glasier ended up getting the win with four innings of work, also striking out five and allowing just one earned run, a solo homer with two out in the top of the seventh.

Tatro and Lawson each had a pair of hits, and Paige Meyette tripled and drove in a run for the Hornets.

McCann Tech moves on to face Hopedale on the road on Monday for a spot in the Sweet 16.
