Hornets Walk Off Win over Pioneer Valley

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Emma LeMire hit a 2-2 pitch to left field for a walkoff double as the McCann Tech softball team beat Pioneer Valley Regional, 13-12, on Thursday.

 

The Hornets went to the bottom of the seventh down, 12-10.

 

Aiden Champney led off with a single and moved to third on Ryleigh Rathbun’s infield single.

 

Gabby Driscoll reached on an error that allowed Champney to score and Rathbun to reach third.

 

Driscoll then moved up on defensive indifference, setting the stage for LeMire’s game-winning hit.

 

Champney and Rathbun each had four hits for the Hornets, who got a home run and four RBIs from Driscoll.

 

LeMire got the start in the circle, got relief from Avery Lane and returned to earn the win.

 

Together, LeMire and Lane combined to strike out seven, walk two and allow no earned runs.

 

McCann Tech (3-0) goes to Drury on Monday.
