SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Allison Steuernagle went 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in Tuesday to lead the Mount Everett softball team to an 11-0 win over Mohawk Trail in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class D tournament.

The Eagles exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the third to break the game open and never looked back.

Julia Devoti struck out nine and walked just one to post the complete-game shutout in the circle.

“Julia did another great job in the circle keeping hitters on their toes,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “We had some great plays in the field highlighted by a phenomenal play in left by Tonilyn Smith to save a run and keep the momentum going for us. I keep reminding them defense, pitching, and timely hitting are the keys to a recipe for success for us.”

Emma Goewey, Smith and Devoti each had a pair of hits for the Eagles.

Mount Everett (13-6) goes on the road to face top-seeded Turners Falls on Thursday in the semi-finals.
