MONTAGUE, Mass. – Madison Liimatainen struck out 15 in the circle and hit a triple at the plate Thursday to lead the Turners Falls softball team to a 9-1 win over Mount Everett in the Western Massachusetts Class D semi-finals.

Morgan Dobias was 3-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs for the Thunder.

Mount Everett got a pair of hits from Emma Goewey, who drove in the Eagles’ run.

Julia Devoti went the distance in the circle, striking out six and walking four.

“Definitely a good test at the end of regular season, and will give us some much needed fuel to prep for states,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “Coach [Gary] Mullins always runs a great program and he's got his kids playing really well. We didn't play up to that level today but the kids know they have the potential.”

Mount Everett (13-7) learns Wednesday where and against whom it will open play in the state tournament.
