SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Emma Goewey went 4-for-4 with a grand slam Wednesday to lead the Mount Everett softball team to a 17-16 win over Drury.

Mariah Broderick was 4-for-5. Julia Devoti tripled, and Hudah Ngoy Nkulu and Aliyah Creamer each doubled in a 17-hit Mount Everett attack.

Goewey’s slam helped the Eagles in a five-run fourth that gave them a 14-11 lead, and they were able to hold off the Blue Devils down the stretch.

“Drury made things interesting [in the seventh] by scoring and a run, and Mariah was able to finish the game with bases loaded,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “I was super proud of our effort and more impressed with our productivity at the plate the last several games. The girls have been working extremely hard at practice and our plate presence has been huge these past three games.”

Broderick went the distance in the circle to earn the win.

For Drury, Brooke Bishop went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in a pair of runs. Madison Saunders and Marley Brothers also went 3-for-4 as the Blue devils collected 17 hits.

Olivia Perry and Danielle Harnick split time in the circle for Drury, striking out eight between them.

The Blue Devils (3-4) host Ware on Thursday.

Mount Everett (2-6) takes a two-game winning streak into Thursday’s home game against Springfield Central, which beat the Eagles, 6-5, in Springfield back on April 5.
