SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Makayla Carpenter went 3-for-4 with three RBIs Thursday to lead the Mount Everett softball team to an 18-5 win over Ludlow.

Aliyah Creamer was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Julia Devoti and Mariah Broderick each doubled.

Devoti went the distance in the circle for the five-inning win, striking out three and walking none.

“The story of Mount Everett softball this year is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” Eagles coach Joshua King said. “We had a really bad game all around on Tuesday at Ware and just didn't play our style of softball. Today we had better energy all around, we were patient at the plate and came up with some timely hits when needed.

“I was proud of how we rebounded from Tuesday and know we didn't get Ludlow's ace because of the amount of games back-to-back, but our girls found a way and Julia did a great job pitching today giving Mariah a much needed day off from pitching.”

Mount Everett (4-8) goes to Southwick on Monday.
