SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Olivia Goewey went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, and Emily Steuernagle struck out five to lead the Mount Everett softball team to a 15-2, five-inning win over Springfield Central on Thursday.

Tonilyn Smith went 2-for-2, and Emma Goewey drove in three runs in a nine-hit Mount Everett attack.

“Good bounce back win for us today,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “We had a tough two games Tuesday at Drury and [Wednesday’s] nine-inning game at McCann. We hadn't played prior to those two games since April 13, so it was a significant amount of time off. So the past two games, that showed in our plate approach and fielding have hurt us.

“Emily Steuernagle did a great job today in a spot start for Julia who threw a lot of pitches [at McCann Tech]. We also played error free which always helps.”

Mount Everett (5-2) hosts Ludlow on Saturday.
