Champney, Lawson Lead Hornets Past Hoosac Valley

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Aiden Champney went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and scored three times on Wednesday as the McCann Tech softball team beat Hoosac Valley, 9-8.
 
Champney’s second double came in the bottom of the fifth. She then scored on a couple of wild pitches to give the Hornets a 9-7 lead.
 
Shaylee Lawson crushed a leadoff home run to center field in the bottom of the fourth to give McCann Tech the lead for good at 8-7.
 
She finished 2-for-4.
 
Svea Lawson and Emily Glasier also had a pair of hits apiece in a 13-hit McCann Tech attack.
 
Hannah Tatro earned the win in the circle, striking out seven, walking one and allowing five earend runs.
 
Hoosac Valley was led by Emma Lemire, who went 4-for-4. Gracelyn Wright went 3-for-4 with a triple and drove in five runs.
 
Wright also went the distance in the circle, striking out four and allowing six earned runs.
 
Hoosac Valley (5-10) goes to Drury on Friday.
 
McCann Tech (8-5) goes to Mount Everett on Friday.
