Lord Leads Hurricanes Past Mohawk Trail

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Hannah Lord went 3-for-4 with a triple on Monday to lead the Hoosac Valley softball team to an 11-2 win over Mohawk Trail in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class D tournament.
 
Ashlyn Lamke went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs for the Hurricanes, who collected 16 hits in the win.
 
Hoosac Valley took control with a four-run fourth inning to take a 6-2 lead.
 
Ella Bissaillon sacrificed home Lamke with one out to drive in the game-winning run. Trinity Brackett scored on a double steal and Genevieve Lagess and Rachael Wnuk each had RBIs in the fourth-inning rally.
 
Gracelyn Wright earned the win in the circle with a complete-game effort, striking out seven, walking none and allowing two earned runs.
 
The third-seeded Hurricanes (12-6) await the winner of Tuesday’s game between No. 2 Lee and No. 7 Gateway.
