Vale-Cruz, O'Bryan Combine on No-Hitter as Wahconah Advances

DALTON, Mass. -- Avery Vale-Cruz and Kaylee O'Bryan combined to throw a complete-game, five-inning no-hitter as the Wahconah softball team advanced in the Western Massachusetts Division 2 tournament with a 12-0 win over Belchertown on Friday.
 
Vale-Cruz pitched three innings to start and O'Bryan threw the last two. The pair allowed just one base-runner and struck out 10 between them.
 
Emma Belcher hit a two-run home run in an 11-run first inning, and Kaitlyn Olds went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles to lead the offense.
 
Third-seeded Wahconah (13-1) moves on to the quarter-finals on Monday, where it will host No. 6 Greenfield (10-2), a 12-0 winner over Monument Mountain on Friday.
