Polidoro, Pittsfield Win in Extra Innings
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Pittsfield pitcher Amelia Polidoro Saturday induced a ground ball back to the circle to leave the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth and secure a 10-9 win over Monument Mountain.
The Spartans rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and put two runs across in the eighth before Polidoro closed the door.
Polidoro also hit a two-out single to start a three-run, game-winning rally for the Generals in the top of the eighth.
She took second on an error on her single, and Mia DeJesus reached on an intentional walk. A passed ball allowed both runners to get in scoring position, and Lex Spratling singled to left to drive in both runs and give Pittsfield a 9-7 lead.
Kaelyn Fields then singled on a line drive up the middle to plate Spratling and give Pittsfield a three-run cushion.
DeJesus led Pittsfield’s offense, going 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Spratling was 3-for-5 with a triple, and Fields tripled in a 2-for-5 day. Gionnah Levardi doubled and drove in a run in a 14-hit Pittsfield attack.
Monument Mountain’s Lily Khalsa was 4-for-5 with an RBI as the Spartans collected 17 runs.
Monument Mountain (1-4) is at Wahconah on Monday.
Pittsfield (2-6) hosts Drury on Monday.
