Wahconah Starts Busy Week with Win over Spartans
DALTON, Mass. – Julia McComish struck out six Monday in pitching the Wahconah softball team to an 18-5, five-inning win over Monument Mountain.
Sammie Kaley homered to highlight a 15-hit attack.
McComish and Melaina Haczela each went 2-for-3 with a double, and Sydney Payson, Kenadi Arnhold and Gracey Farley each had two hits.
“We will need some big team wins this week with four games, and today was a good start,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said.
Andrea Paul went 2-for-3 with a triple and a home run to lead Monument Mountain, which got a 3-for-3 day at the plate from Gianna Beacco.
The Spartans (4-8) host Taconic on Tuesday.
Wahconah (11-1) continues a busy week on Tuesday with a big test against unbeaten Hoosac Valley.
