GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Jade Abderhalden and Sammy Ullrich each went 3-for-4 with a double Wednesday to lead the Monument Mountain softball team to a 13-7 win over Gateway.

After the Gators scored all seven of their runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 7-5 lead, Monument Mountain scored eight in the bottom of the frame to take control of the game back.

“I am incredibly proud of the grit my team showed today,” Monument Mountain coach Jamie Downer said. “When Gateway started hitting us and went up two runs, the girls could have gotten down but they didn’t— they responded and we were able to get the job done.

“We have been working on mental toughness and today was a testament to the work we’ve been doing. It was a good win today.”

Jade Abderhalden and Olivia Simms each went 3-for-4 in a 14-hit Spartan attack.

Meg Dupont struck out eight and allowed three earned runs to earn a complete-game win in the circle.

Monument Mountain (8-2) goes to St. Mary’s on Thursday.
