Lopez Homers as Generals Win in a Rout

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Neveah Lopez went 3-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run Monday to lead the Pittsfield softball team to a 14-0 win over Cardinal Spellman in the Division 3 State Tournament Round of 32.

 

Lopez hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the second after the Generals batted around to score eight runs in the bottom of the first.

 

She finished with a double and four RBIs to lead a 12-hit Pittsfield attack in the five-inning win.

 

Mia Arpante went 3-for-3 with a double. Paxton Ebling was 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs. Bella MacDonald tripled and drove in a run.

 

Amanda Pou and Mia DeJesus combined for the win in the circle, striking out seven, walking two and scattering four hits.

 

Fifth-seeded Pittsfield (14-7) is home on Wednesday in the Sweet 16 against Apponequet Regional (11-10), a 6-1 winner over Montachusett Regional Voc on Monday.
