Paulin, Greenfield Edge Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – MacKenzie Paulin struck out 17 and allowed just two hits in the Greenfield softball team’s 1-0 win over Pittsfield on Saturday.
 
The Green Wave got a run in the top of the sixth to break a scoreless tie.
 
Olivia Lemay hit a leadoff double and moved up when Paulin grounded back to the circle. Lemay then scored on an RBI groundout by Grace Laurie.
 
Pittsfield got a leadoff single from Mia Dejesus in the bottom of the seventh, but Paulin left her there with a popup to second base and back-to-back strikeouts.
 
Paxton Ebling had the other hit for Pittsfield.
 
Ava McMahon went the distance in the circle for Pittsfield, striking out three and allowing just the one unearned run.
 
The Generals (5-6) hosts Agawam on Tuesday.
