PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield softball team Monday jumped out to a lead early and held off the Mount Anthony Patriots late for a 4-3 win.

Erin Murphy went 2-for-3 with a triple and a pair of RBIs, and Haley Tobin went 2-for-3 with double for the Generals.

Pittsfield led, 3-0, after the second inning and stretched its lead to 4-0 in the fifth. It needed all those runs when Mount Anthony Union rallied for one in the sixth and two in the seventh before Giuliannna Pierce was able to close the door.

Pierce struck out eight and walked none in earning the complete-game win in the circle.

Pittsfield (13-2) hosts Drury on Thursday.
