Pittsfield Softball Opens with Win over Taconic

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Alyssa Mercier doubled in a three-run fourth-inning rally to help the Pittsfield softball team open the year with a 6-2 win over Taconic.
 
Jordynn Bazinet and Lauren Crocker each went 2-for-3 for the Generals, who took a 6-0 lead in the fifth before Taconic got on the board.
 
Bazinet struck out six and walked just one in the win.
 
Brenna McNiece went 1-for-3 and scored a run in the seventh for Taconic.
 
Taconic (1-1) goes to Wahconah on Tuesday.
 
Pittsfield (1-0) is at Mount Everett on Monday.
