A Pair of Aces: Drury's Dubie, Wahconah's Wells Honored

This week’s iBerkshires.com/Bedard Bros. Athletes of the Week have been critical to their teams’ success on the diamond this spring.

Wahconah pitcher Abby Wells had a huge week in the circle with a pair of no-hitters to help her team extend a five-game winning streak and improve to 9-4.

On Tuesday, she did a little of everything in a 5-1 win over Drury, striking out seven while not allowing a hit over seven innings and going 1-for-3 at the plate herself.

On Friday, she struck out eight and walked none to no-hit Monument Mountain in a 12-0 win that ended after five innings.

While Wells, as a softball pitcher, can throw every day, Drury’s Ryan Dubie has a limited number of chances to impact the game from the hill, and he has made the most of them.

Dubie has pitched in four of the Blue Devils’ five wins this season.

Last Friday, he started a three-game winning streak for Drury (5-6) by striking out six in a 3-2 win over Mount Everett.

On Thursday, he threw a pair of innings in a 7-1 win at Mount Greylock. Dubie also went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored four times in the win over the Mounties.
