NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Drury boys basketball team ran Mount Greylock out of the gym with a 78-37 win Monday night at home.

It was all Drury (3-3) early and often in this one as they came out the gates strong. Scott McGuire Jr. led the way for the Blue Devils with 27 points. Louis Guilotte and Keeghan Vidal chipped in with 11 each, while Tim Brazeeau added 10.

Mount Greylock (3-3) had trouble putting the ball in the hoop, and it was mainly thanks to the intense defense of Drury. It seemed like every 50/50 ball was going Drury’s way, and with the spread out attack it was hard for Mount Greylock to keep up.

Drury started the game on a 15-2 run, including three 3-pointers in that span. The Blue Devils were able to speed up Mount Greylock and take it out of its offense. The Mounties were able get themselves within seven at the end of the quarter, but that didn’t last long. With Drury knocking down outside shots at a high percentage they were able to take advantage of going inside for easy buckets. Tim Brazzeau had six of his points in the quarter alone making things difficult inside for Mount Greylock to defend.

“Tim [Brazzeau] and Louis [Guilotte] are a sophomore and a freshman and we are into game six, they need to start playing a little more mature every game, and I think they played better tonight. If we want to get in the tournament we need those guys in game shape come game 21, 22,” Drury coach Jack Racette said.

Drury outscored Mount Greylock, 18-6, in the second quarter and gave itself a comfortable lead going into the break.

After the break Drury continued with more of the same in the second half. This time, it was Keeghan Vidal who had the hot hand in the quarter, knocking down two 3-pointers and a layup. At this point the game was pretty much over for Mount Greylock as they continued to struggle offensively.

Toby Foehl and Mac Waynick led the team with 10 points each but it wasn’t enough. Unlike their last game, when they came back from a double-digit fourth quarter deficit to win, Monday’s final quarter was more of a formality where both teams took advantage of getting bench players in.

This was a big game for the Blue Devils as they snapped a three-game losing streak. With this win it gets them back to .500 with the positive energy needed to move forward.

“Our backs are against the wall, we are on the other side of .500 right now. We have three games this week, and we need to tweak some little things,” Racette said. “We came with a lot of energy tonight, but it’s a game we had to win, We need to win at home.”

Drury will head on the road Friday night against Ware looking to keep things rolling.

Mount Greylock will look to get back on track Thursday when it hosts Lee.
