Norwell Knocks Off Taconic Boys

WORCESTER, Mass. – Ronan Coffey scored 18 points Tuesday to lead the undefeated and second-seeded Norwell boys basketball team to a 65-46 win over Taconic in the semi-finals of the Division 3 State Tournament.
 
Charlie Williams scored 11 for Norwell, which earned a berth in this weekend’s state championship game at Lowell’s Tsongas Center.
 
Norwell made 38 trips to the free throw line and converted 27 of their free throws. Coffey went 13-for-14 at the charity stripe.
 
The Thunder was down by just three after one quarter, but Norwell took a 37-25 lead into the locker room after hitting three 3-pointers in the second quarter.
 
Taconic was led by Ceasar Santos with 15 points. Martin Boua scored 12, and Kyle McGrath added 12 in the loss.
 
The Thunder finishes the season with a record of 19-5.
