Two of the county’s top contenders in the upcoming Central/Western Massachusetts lacrosse tournaments are led by the county’s two most dangerous scorers.

At Mount Greylock, where the Mounties’ girls had a seven-game win streak ended on the road at West Springfield this week, Emma Polumbo has led her squad to a 13-5 record.

Polumbo, who is committed to play lacrosse next spring at St. Lawrence University, is averaging more than four goals per game at Mount Greylock.

On Monday, she scored seven goals and assisted on another as the Mounties avenged an early season loss against Vermont’s Mount Anthony with a 15-13 win in Williamstown.

Two days later, she scored five and dished out four assists in a 16-3 win over Pittsfield. And in Friday’s loss to the 13-5 Terriers, Polumbo passed out three assists.

Dart Jaggi and the Wahconah boys lacrosse team have not lost a game since a one-goal decision to Mount Greylock back on May 10.

Since then, they have won six in a row going into this week’s final two regular season games against Taconic and Monson.

Jaggi is averaging four goals per game himself, and in a four-game week this past week, he had five against Hoosac Valley, two in a low-scoring (8-2) affair against Mount Anthony, three on Friday night against Agawam and seven 12 hours later against Pittsfield.

Jaggi, a junior, is following up on a 50-goal season last year by flirting with 75 goals before the post-season gets underway.
