SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Carter Matthews scored 18 points to lead three Pittsfield players in double figures as the Generals defeated Baystate Academy, 61-41, on Saturday evening.

Pittsfield pulled away with a 14-5 fourth quarter to open up an 11-point game.

“It was a slow start for both teams and Baystate came out with a lot of scrappy energy,” Pittsfield coach Brandon Mauer said. “Carter Matthews had another great game off the bench on both ends.

“Sam Higuera steadied us with his assists while Don't Cruz steadied us on the boards, complementing Joe Cracolici's 16-point night. We pulled away late in the second to get a good win.”

Cracolici scored 10 of his 16 in the third quarter. Cruz scored 13.

Pittsfield (6-2) hosts Lenox on Monday.
