CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Craig Jackson scored 15 points to lead three players in double figures as the Pittsfield boys basketball team defeated Hoosac Valley, 64-46, on Tuesday night.

The Generals held the Hurricanes to just four points in the first quarter and 26 points through three quarters on the way to snapping a three-game losing streak.

“Credit PHS with quality team defense,” Hoosac Valley coach Dave Harte said. “Their guard play is very solid and unselfish and their bigs have soft touch around the rim. They got second and third opportunities all night.”

Sincere Moorer scored 14, and Joe Cracolici added 13 for Pittsfield.

Casey Meczywor and Izaha Stubbs led Hoosac Valley with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

“I thought we had the game at the pace we wanted in the first half, but they hit a 3 at the end of the second putting them up 29-16 at half,” Harte said. “We had a lot of opportunities to keep it close but couldn’t finish and we missed a bunch of free throws.

“Our kids still competed but came up short.”

Hoosac Valley (5-10) hosts Wahconah on Friday.

Pittsfield (9-6) plays Taconic Friday night at the Boys and Girls Club.
