Cooney's Late Free Throws Lift Lenox
LENOX, Mass. – Seamus Cooney hit a pair of free throws with 1.6 seconds left to give the Lenox boys basketball team a 59-58 win over Southwick on Tuesday night.
Duke Jaehnig scored 15 points to lead the Millionaires, who got 11 from Cooney and 10 from Dylan Blake.
Lenox was up, 45-28, in the third quarter before the Rams mounted a 14-0 run to get back in the game, Millionaires coach Len Miller said.
“Southwick played very aggressive defense in the fourth quarter that led to clutch foul shooting by Duke Jaehnig, going 7 for 10, and Seamus Cooney sealing the win with two foul shots with 1.6 seconds left on clock,” MIller said. “I’m proud of our team playing team basketball and making key plays to pull out the win.”
As a team, Lenox shot 12-for-18 at the free throw line in the fourth.
Jason Sibley scored eight, and Langston Cotton had seven points and seven rebounds in the win.
Lenox (2-2) hosts Veritas Prep on Monday.
