NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Kayla McGrath scored 15 points Monday to lead the Drury girls basketball team to a 52-28 win over Franklin Tech in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C tournament.

Lauren Davis and Jacinda Felix each added eight points in a balanced attack for the Blue Devils.

“I was worried after the week layoff how we would come out,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “You never know. The girls played so hard and had energy the entire game. The third quarter is always the quarter I worry about and at half-time we talked about winning the quarter. Obviously we did that so I was proud of how they came out.”

McGrath scored 11 points in the fourth as the Blue Devils outscored the Eagles, 18-5, to take a 44-14 lead into the fourth.

Drury (11-8) goes to second-seeded Taconic on Wednesday in the regional semi-finals.

“Assuming Taconic wins, I’m excited for a rematch,” Downey said before the end of Taconic’s quarter-final win over Mount Greylock on Monday. “I didn’t think we played well the last time so I am expecting a much better game. Obviously, they are tough and athletic, but I am excited to see how we play them this time around.”
