PALMER, Mass. – Charlotte Theriault scored 32 points Friday to lead the Palmer girls basketball team to a 57-42 win over Drury in the Division 5 State Tournament Quarter-Finals.

The Panthers took control by outscoring the Blue Devils, 17-9, in the third quarter to take a 38-28 lead.

Jacinta Felix scored 12 points for Drury, which got nine from Ashlyn Hayden, eight from Delaney Hayden and seven from Brooke Bishop in her final basketball game for the Blue Devils.

“The girls fought up to the final buzzer,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “I’m proud of how far we came throughout the season. The ultimate compliment your players can give you as a coach is that by the end of the season you are playing your best. And we were.”

Sixth-seeded Palmer (15-8) moves on to face No. 2 West Boylston (20-3) in the state semi-finals.

Drury ends the year with a record of 10-13.

“I’m just glad I got to coach a few extra weeks with this group,” Downey said. “We have a lot to look forward to and I thank Brooke and Marley [Brothers] for everything that they gave to the program over the years.”
