NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Aiden Champney Monday scored 16 points to lead the McCann Tech girls basketball team to a 56-19 win over Hampden Charter.

Champney scored 10 points in the first quarter, when the Hornets jumped out to a 22-2 lead.

“We emphasized really making the extra pass and making the right basketball play in pregame and the girls really executed that well having our best first quarter offensively of the year as a result,” McCann Tech coach Justin Kratz said.

He credited Riley Guiden with helping spark his team’s defensive pressure.

“Aiden Champney was a monster on the boards and a force down low,” Kratz said. “Faith Brazeau (10 points) was all energy all the time on both ends of the floor and had a really strong night. Freshman Bella Lefevre is starting to get more comfortable with the varsity game, chipping in nine.”

McCann Tech (6-0) hosts Mohawk Trail on Wednesday.
