PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Taconic girls' basketball team got off to its second slow start in a row on Wednesday, and it cost the Braves in a 45-39 loss to South Hadley.

After falling behind 13-7 after the first quarter, Taconic (1-5) only managed four points in the second and went into halftime down by 11. Matt Mickle's squad got things going in the second half, but the Tigers (6-1) made enough plays in the fourth quarter to earn their sixth win in a row.

Kelly Pouliot and Megan Lynes each scored 13 points to lead South Hadley. Junior center Nyanna Slaughter notched an impressive double-double for the Braves, scoring a game-high 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Classmate Angela O'Neil added 12 points and five boards, while sophomore forward Brianna Rogers chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.

Taconic next hosts North Division rival Wahconah at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
