WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Jenna Benzinger dropped 21 points to lead the Mount Greylock girls basketball team to a 60-45 win over Lenox Monday night.

Lauren Howard scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers for Mount Greylock (7-4),
and Arianna Walden added 14. It was a balanced effort from the whole team helping them get the victory.

“All I care about is our score is higher than the opponents at the end of the game,” Mount Greylock coach John Jacobbe said. "That's the way we have been playing the last couple games --- different girls are stepping up.”

For Lenox (2-8), Alice Najimy poured in 26 points, including six from downtown, Jackie Hathaway chipped in with eight points.

Lenox got off to a hot start on the defensive end getting multiple steals off of their full court pressure, but the Millionaires unable to maintain the lead very long.

It was a hard fought game with teams separated only by Benzinger's buzzer-beating triple at the end of the half to give Mount Greylock the 30-27 lead. In the second half, Mount Greylock started to pull away outscoring Lenox 12-6 in the third quarter. Mount Greylock never looked back as they were able to coast to double-digit win.

“I thought it was a very good win against a very good team. They play hard and play to win.” Jacobbe said, “That's a tough team to beat and I feel good the way we responded.”

Mount Greylock will go on the road to play St. Joseph on Thursday night, While Lenox will play next Tuesday at home against Pittsfield High School.
