Pittsfield Girls Open Season with Win over South Hadley

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Caprese Conyers Friday scored 20 points and passed out five assists to lead the Pittsfield girls basketball team to a 60-53 win over South Hadley in the Generals’ season opener.
 
Conyers scored seven points in the second quarter, when Pittsfield outscored the Tigers, 22-7, to take a 38-20 lead into half-time.
 
Harolyn Castillo scored 13 points, and Bre’Jai Ellerbee added nine in the win. Asia Smith-Moody finished with eight points and eight assists.
 
Kyana Summers led Pittsfield’s defense with nine steals.
 
Pittsfield (1-0) goes to Amsterdam, N.Y., to play Hornell on Dec. 28.
