SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Jade Alward hit three 3-pointers in the first minute of the game on her way to a game-high 11 points as the Lenox girls basketball team Saturday qualified for the Western Massachusetts Division 4 tournament with a 54-8 win over Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter.

The Millionaires improved to 6-13 on the season, but thanks to the MIAA’s Sullivan Rule, which benefits teams playing in leagues dominated by teams in higher classifications, Lenox qualified by earning a .500 record against other D4 squads.

Leading scorer Nicole Gamberoni sat for the Lenox in the win, and coach Mike Nykorchuck brought up a couple of junior varsity players. Everyone in uniform scored for Lenox.

Tabor Paul and Alex Lipton each scored eight, and Mia Giradina added seven.

Lenox travels to Pittsfield on Monday night in their Berkshire County North-South crossover game.
