Plum Crazy to appear at the Rising Sun Music Festival

Massachusetts based rock group, Plum Crazy, announces an appearance at the Rising Sun Music Festival ( www.risingsunmusicfest.com ) on August 10, 2003. The festival is scheduled from August 7-10 and features over 30 bands on three stages including Blues Traveler, The Gin Blossoms, The Bacon Brothers, Martina McBride, Dwight Yokam and many more. Tickets can be purchased as one day passes or for all four days for those who wish to camp onsite. Plum Crazy will appear in the early afternoon (1:20pm-2:25pm) on 8/10 and those who wish to attend are encouraged to purchase their tickets ahead of time by calling (860) 683-2851 or by visiting the Rising Sun web site. Plum Crazy continues to play scores of shows in the area and their schedule can be accessed at www.plumcrazyrocks.com. Plum Crazy formed in early 2002. In a short amount of time they have developed a huge repertoire of cover songs, a full album¹s worth of original music to be released in September 2003, and played many shows in New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts (including Boston, central MA, and an exhaustive list of venues in the Berkshires). They have also sold hundreds of their CDs and developed a loyal following of the best fans any band could ever hope for. Plum Crazy has also scored a number of notable honors over the last year. The Northern Lights Nightclub "Battle of the Bands" features a competition of the best bands in the New York, Vermont and Massachusetts region. Plum Crazy has competed in three of these competitions of 50+ bands and making their way into the top ten semifinals each time. Further, Plum Crazy placed second out of 70 bands in January 2003 landing them an opening spot for an incoming national act. And recently, Plum Crazy received second place at the "Battle of the Bands" at the Pearl Street Nightclub in Northampton, MA. Lanesborough Fifth-Graders Win Snowplow Name Contest

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — One of the snowplows for Highway District 1 has a new name: "The Blizzard Boss."
 
The name comes from teacher Gina Wagner's fifth-grade class at Lanesborough Elementary School. 
 
The state Department of Transportation announced the winners of the fourth annual "Name A Snowplow" contest on Monday. 
 
The department received entries from public elementary and middle school classrooms across the commonwealth to name the 12 MassDOT snowplows that will be in service during the 2025/2026 winter season. 
 
The purpose of the contest is to celebrate the snow and ice season and to recognize the hard work and dedication shown by public works employees and contractors during winter operations. 
 
"Thank you to all of the students who participated. Your creativity allows us to highlight to all, the importance of the work performed by our workforce," said  interim MassDOT Secretary Phil Eng.  
 
"Our workforce takes pride as they clear snow and ice, keeping our roads safe during adverse weather events for all that need to travel. ?To our contest winners and participants, know that you have added some fun to the serious take of operating plows. ?I'm proud of the skill and dedication from our crews and thank the public of the shared responsibility to slow down, give plows space and put safety first every time there is a winter weather event."
