Ponterril now open for 2004 Summer Session

The Pittsfield Family YMCA's Ponterril facility is now open for the 2004 summer season. According to officials, Ponterril offers many new improvements this year, including the painting and remodeling of locker rooms, a repainted pool and a repaired kiddy's pool. Ponterril Pool will be open the following hours: Monday - Friday: noon-5 pm Saturdays - 10:30 am-7 pm Sundays - Noon-7 pm Summer memberships are also being offered for adults, Families and Students. Swimming Lessons will be offered again this year at Ponterril and you may register at either the downtown Y or Ponterril. Classes will run Monday thru Thursday with Friday as the make-up day in case of inclement weather from 11-11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-noon. Lessons will be offered for 3-5 years of age. Cost of swimming lessons will be $34 for members and $68 for non-members. Classes that will be offered are: Pike (beginners), Eel (swim independently and float with help), Rays and Starfish (swim experience and more advanced). Schedule is as follows: Monday, July 12 - Thursday, July 22, 2004 Monday, July 26 - Thursday, August 5, 2004 Monday, August 9 - Thursday, August 19, 2004 Tennis Courts will be available: (please call to reserve - 499-0687) you must be a member to use these courts or pay a guest fee. Friends of Great Barrington Libraries Holiday Book Sale

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Friends of Great Barrington Libraries invite the community to shop their annual Holiday Good-as-New Book Sale, happening now through the end of the year at the Mason Library, 231 Main Street. 
 
With hundreds of curated gently used books to choose from—fiction, nonfiction, children's favorites, gift-quality selections, cookbooks, and more—it's the perfect local stop for holiday gifting.
 
This year's sale is an addition to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Stroll on this Saturday, Dec. 13, 3–8 PM. Visitors can swing by the Mason Library for early parking, browse the sale until 3:00 PM, then meet Pete the Cat on the front lawn before heading downtown for the Stroll's shopping, music, and festive eats.
 
Can't make the Holiday Stroll? The book sale is open during regular Mason Library hours throughout December.
 
Proceeds support free library programming and events for all ages.
