Great Barrington - Emmy Award winning actress Elaine Bromka will perform in the one woman show Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat and Betty, which was written by Eric Weinberger. The benefit performance will take place in the McConnell Theater at Simon’s Rock College on Saturday, October 15 at 8 p.m. Byam Stevens, artistic director of The Miniature Theatre of Chester, will direct the play, which portrays three first ladies as they prepare tea for their successors. In the play, they are each getting ready to hand over what Pat Nixon called “the hardest unpaid job in the world.” Bromka had originally portrayed eight first ladies with comedian Rich Little in a PBS production of The Presidents. When she finished that project she wanted to continue to explore the personalities of these women, but thought eight was too big a number to pursue. Weinberger was able to help her to create a more reasonable cast. The performance will be followed by a discussion and a reception. Tickets are $75, with limited free tickets available to Simon’s Rock students and faculty. Ticket sales will benefit the Miniature Theatre of Chester and Hevreh of South Berkshire.
