Rock the Berkshires Green concert to benefit CET

Local musicians are donating their time and talent to present a Rock the Berkshires Green concert to benefit the environment and the Center for Ecological Technology (CET) on Saturday, September 29, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Flavours Restaurant at the Econo Lodge in Lenox. Proceeds from the benefit will help support CET’s public education to reduce climate change in the Berkshires. Local singer-songwriters and bands who will each play a set include Robby Baier, Todd Mack and Tony Lee Thomas, as well as Domino Theory and the Longview Gunslingers. Comedian Dan Schilling will emcee between musical acts. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Thomas approached CET in July with the idea for the fundraising event, offering to coordinate the benefit on its behalf. “As local artists who love the Berkshires, we want to support CET’s commitment to the environment,” says Thomas. CET is a community based non-profit environmental organization that works with individuals, businesses, communities and schools in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management and environmental education. The organization was founded in 1976, and works to make environmental technologies and practices mainstream and affordable. Flavours Restaurant will provide a Malaysian buffet from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a cash bar. Tickets for the event with buffet will be available at the door for $25, and $15 for children under 15 years of age. After 10 p.m., the ticket price is $10 for music and dancing. “We are excited to bring people together to have fun and enjoy good music while supporting CET’s community work. We are especially grateful to the musicians who are sharing their talents to help reduce climate change,” said Laura Dubester, CET Director. Retailer Brighter Daze of Great Barrington will have a booth at the event and will donate 20% of all sales to CET. The Econo Lodge, where Flavours Restaurant is located, is donating the space for the event. Along with CET, the Climate Crisis Coalition, a national organization based in Lee, will have a display and information to share. In conversation with Sara Houghteling, Pulitzer Prize-winner Stacy Schiff will explore the origins of the American Revolution as detailed in her latest work, "The Revolutionary: Samuel Adams," for whom the town is named. Schiff is an Adams native and Williams College graduate.
