One of MiniClips many holiday-themed online games.

Now that the presents have been opened and the food's all gone, what's better than a completely random list of mind-occupying, senseless online fun tools for the bored Christmas reveler?

We, at iBerkshires.com, love to waste time on the computer just as much as the next guy so, rather than have you spend your precious time searching the Internet for ridiculous content, we've made it easy and done it for you. All with a Christmas theme, no less!

No, don't thank us. Consider it our Christmas gift to you.

Games to Pass the Time

Maybe you're interested in playing educational games that'll work your brain and test your knowledge. Or maybe the inner Scrooge tucked deep down inside gets enjoyment out of slightly twisted games that necessitate the cruel demolition of elves, turkeys or even Old St. Nick himself. Either way, there's certainly an online game out there that'll keep you occupied.

Here's a list of some of our favorites.

Go Elf Yourself: Created by Office Max, the office supply retailer, this clever program is always a hoot. Simply upload pictures of yourself and your family and friends and watch the silly elves perform a little ditty just for you. Or, if you're a grump around the holiday season, check out Scrooge Yourself. The idea's the same.

Knock Yourself Out:
MiniClip.com hosts a whole slew of Christmas and winter-themed games that'll test more than just your hand-eye coordination. See how how many penguins you can bean in the face with an ice cube. Test your snowmobiling mettle.  Help Santa defend himself. Our personal favorite is Empty Santa's Sack, where no one is safe, not even innocent elves.

How Far Can He Go? Ever wanted to fling Santa off a cliff? Now's your chance. With "Slingshot Santa," a catapult will help you launch the jolly one across a snowy surface. Just click and watch him go.

For The Little Ones: From memory card games to build-your-own snowman, the simple and fun games at "All Things Christmas" are truly a joy.

Some Other Tidbits

Santa and the 21st Century:
Santa may be done with his travels but those interested in the path he took can log onto the North American Aerospace Defense Command web site and check out their Santa cam. Along with an interactive Google Earth map that shows where Santa left his gifts, Santa sightings area also available via YouTube.com.

<R3>Where Can I Find a Patridge In a Pear Tree? Ever wonder just how much it would cost to purchase all the gifts listed in the classic "The 12 Days of Christmas"? PNC Financial Services has calculated the Christmas Price Index every year since 1984, informing true loves just how much it'll break the bank to pay for milking maids, leaping lords and turtle doves. Complete with commentary, the price in 2007 might surprise you.

iBerkshires wishes you a happy and safe holiday season and, if all else fails, spend time with your family today.

Lanesborough Passes FY 2027 Budget, Warrant Articles

By Breanna SteeleiBerkshires Staff
LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Town meeting on Tuesday approved an almost $14 million fiscal 2027 budget, and approved bylaws for short-term rentals and signage, and for public safety vehicles.

Of the 20 warrant articles, one, Article 7, to use free cash to pay prior fiscal year bills of $941.27 was indefinitely postponed by Moderator David Rolle because the bills were for the fire association.

Some 247 of the town's more than 2,600 registered voters filled Lanesborough Elementary School, debating articles during a meeting that lasted more than three hours.

The town's 2027 spending plan is up more than 10 percent, with the main increases from higher enrollment in the regional schools and the McCann Technical School renovation project.

Voters approved the assessment of $7,586,284 for Mount Greylock Regional School. They also approved Article 11, which was the use of $16,298.48 in free cash for the McCann's roof and window replacement project so as not to impact the budget.

Ambulance Director Jen Weber is planning 24-hour coverage, which means more staff and a hike in her budget. Article 5 asked the town to appropriate $234,100 to operate the Ambulance Enterprise Fund for salaries and expenses, which passed.

Fire Chief Jeff DeChaine spoke to the audience on his articles and the need for a new truck to replace the 1996 fire truck, listed on the warrant articles for a total $813,366, which includes a $100,000 contingency cost on whether a 2026 model-year chassis can be secured before new emissions standards in 2027. If they get the 2026 chassis, that contingency likely won't be needed.
