STOCKBRIDGE — Norman Rockwell Museum will present "Roots! A Lively History of Pictorial Communication," on Friday, April 11, at noon.
Discover the roots of American illustration with this talk presented by curator Charles Sable.
The origins of pictorial communication from prehistory to the 20th century will be explored, offering insights into the intersecting roles of the artist, economics, and culture. The examination of 19th- and 20th-century visual culture will culminate with the career of illustrator Norman Rockwell. Participants should bring lunch, with beverages and dessert provided. Admission is $6, free for museum members.
The museum is open daily. Admission is $12.50 for adults, $7 for students, and free for visitors 18 and under (five per adult). On Wednesdays from November to May, senior citizens are admitted at half-price.

In conversation with Sara Houghteling, Pulitzer Prize-winner Stacy Schiff will explore the origins of the American Revolution as detailed in her latest work, "The Revolutionary: Samuel Adams," for whom the town is named. Schiff is an Adams native and Williams College graduate.
