TROY, NY - Twelve-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs, known as one of bluegrass music's most recognized ambassadors, teams up with virtuoso pianist, singer-songwriter, and Grammy winner Bruce Hornsby for an amazing evening featuring music from their brand new chart-topping duo album on Thursday, April 17 at 8 pm at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Backed by the hard-driving Kentucky Thunder, they draw from deep roots in mountain music - adding Hornsby's piano and inimitable songwriting skills to the core bluegrass lineup of mandolin, guitar, bass, fiddle, and banjo. Combining originals, traditional songs, re-invented ballads, and their own rave-up interpretation of Rick James Superfreak, their live concert is sure to be one of the highlights of the season.

Called "a neverland where rural purity embraces modern conventions" by the New York Times, this performance is a "must see" for bluegrass and country music aficionados alike. The duo will perform highlights from their 2006 debut collaboration, Ricky Skaggs & Bruce Hornsby. Dubbed "genre-breaking iconoclast" by Harp Magazine, the album melds original bluegrass compositions with innovative takes on traditional classics, including Roscoe Holcomb's Across the Rocky Mountain and Hornsby's own Mandolin Rain. "The cross pollination was a great gift to both of us," says Skaggs. "It's one of the most memorable projects I've ever done."

Ricky Skaggs just won his thirteenth Grammy Award for Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album for Salt of the Earth. Celebrated as the contemporary face of modern bluegrass, Skaggs' contributions to country music include twelve Number One hits and eight Country Music association awards. In 1997, Skaggs returned to his bluegrass roots and established the Skaggs Family Records label. A country icon, he continues to record award-winning music and tour with his Kentucky Thunder band and champion a return to the down-home style of bluegrass. Of his most recent Grammy award, Skaggs said: "This is the most special win of all. It's the most wonderful thing in the world to win with people you love, your family."

Bruce Hornsby has sold over 10 million albums and celebrated three Grammy Award wins as a remarkable pianist, singer-songwriter and bandleader. His acclaimed career in popular music has included over 100 records, including collaborations with Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Don Henley and Elton John, and a two-year stint as a part-time member of the Grateful Dead. Hornsby is one of pop music's most distinguished and beloved composers and musicians.

Tickets for Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby are $48 and $42, and may be purchased through the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Box Office by calling (518) 273-0038 or online at www.troymusichall.org. The Music Hall Box Office opens 90 minutes prior to the performance.
