The city of North Adams and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will team up for a good, old-fashioned Spring Cleaning, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 3.

The 17th annual College and Community Cleanup begins with registration at 9 am at the MCLA Church Street Center, located on the corner of Church and Porter Streets. There will be refreshments provided. Transportation, gloves and garbage bags will be issued for all recruits, who will be brought to various sites around the city for a short cleanup shift with their crew. Everyone will be brought back to the Church Street Center for an appreciation lunch and closing remarks.

The cleanup effort is a delightful way to kick off the season in a positive fashion. Hundreds of students and residents are expected to participate. Individuals, families, organizations or entire neighborhoods are encouraged to sign up and take part in the event.

City residents who would like to volunteer should call Rod Bunt in the Mayor’s Office of Tourism at 664.6180 or mail to: tourism@northadams-ma.gov . The college community is urged to contact Spencer Moser, event coordinator and director of the MCLA Center for Service and Citizenship at 662-5251, or mail to: spencer.moser@mcla.edu
